On July 8th, 2012, a month after the proposal, our 2 families made a step closer to becoming 1.
The tunang, translated as the engagement, is a Malay tradition of saying,
“Yes we approve of their relationship and let’s set a good year for them to get married.”
Prior to the engagement we have to prepare our gift trays to present and exchange during the official day. There are no limitations to your gifts but we decided on a couple of food and dessert trays plus a watch each for something we can keep.
We made the collaterals and decorated the gift trays ourselves with the help of awesome family members and friends.
My graphic designer of a fiancé designed our invite.
Explaining the whole event will take us forever and a year. Here are some pictures to sum up this joyous occasion.
Then comes the exchange of gifts where the guy’s side and his representatives come over to the lady’s side. After the serious and official discussion, his grandmother came to put the ring on me as per our tradition.
After which, we celebrate with photos and food!
With tradition, Faizal can only come over after the whole event is over.

They say, with this official engagement comes the tests of all tests. From this day on, comes the stress of planning the wedding, buying a house, saving money for the above and of course for our relationship to withstand all boundaries.
With god’s grace, this has been pretty amazing so far.
