#the8yearkitchen : Microwave Mug Cake

One thing that is therapeutic for us is cooking. Well, for me cooking/baking, for Faizal – eating it after 😉

Yesterday I had a very intense craving for chocolate cake, not just any chocolate cake, a home-baked one. Our kitchen at home is not always prepped for full on baking, but I’ve always wanted to try the chocolate cake in a mug! Sounds super quick, fuss-free and fool proof. The best thing was, it is.

I used this recipe online, since it claims to be The Moistest Chocolate Mug Cake (Do click for full list of ingredients and how-tos!)

First – measure out your ingredients (I used olive oil instead of vegetable oil, it was ok to me!)

Next – mix everything in a bowl, but I was lazy, so I mixed everything in my measuring cup and it worked out well 🙂

This is not what you want. You want it to be smooth and runny. Tip, mix the dry ingredients well first before adding the liquids.

Almost the consistency! Keep mixing!

Put it in the oven. I used a paper towel in case of any spillage. I put it on high and cooked for 2.20 minutes. Every microwave works differently, so just check once it a while. To see if done – poke a skewer or satay stick through, if it comes out clean, it’s done!

All done!

The recipe says to used like nutella spread or some sort of spread. It does add to the moistness of the cake. I didn’t cos I didn’t have any. So after the first taste it really is moist but borderline bread-y texture. So I melted some butterscotch chips with a bit of butter and drizzle at the top. DELICIOUS!!

Perfect for a quick weekend treat!
